Solar-Floating ESP32 Water Quality Monitoring Prototype

Challenge
An environmental monitoring client needed a floating, autonomous device to track water quality at a remote site where wired connectivity and frequent site visits were not feasible. The unit had to capture multiple water parameters and reliably relay them to a cloud database on a fixed schedule without an on-site operator.
Approach
We built the prototype around an ESP32 paired with pH, temperature, and turbidity sensors, with a custom PCB layout to integrate the sensing front-end and power management for a floating enclosure. A GSM/GPRS module provided cellular backhaul so the device could operate fully off-grid. The firmware sampled the sensor suite and pushed readings to a cloud database on a recurring interval, balancing duty-cycling against power constraints for unattended operation.
Outcome
The client received a working remote water-quality prototype and left a 5-star review describing GizanTech as a great company to work with.

Cellular IoT Telemetry to AWS IoT Core over MQTT

Challenge
A client needed an embedded system to push field data to AWS IoT Core over a cellular link, with no reliable Wi-Fi or wired network at the deployment site. The connection had to be authenticated and secure end-to-end using device certificates rather than a shared credential.
Approach
We developed the system on the Arduino platform, driving a SIMCOM-class cellular module via the TinyGSM library and raw AT commands to bring up the GPRS data session. From there the device established an MQTT connection to AWS IoT Core, authenticating with per-device X.509 certificates so each unit was independently identified and trusted. The work spanned telecommunications and embedded engineering, covering the modem bring-up, the TLS/MQTT handshake, and the certificate provisioning needed for a production-style IoT data path.
Outcome
The IoT project was delivered to the client's satisfaction, earning a 5-star review that praised our patience and clear video and documentation support during their own testing.

ESP32-CAM Real-Time People Detection Proof of Concept

Challenge
A client wanted to prove that a low-cost ESP32-CAM dev board could perform real-time people detection at high accuracy, plus a companion mobile app to configure settings and receive detections. Running reliable object detection on such a constrained embedded platform, rather than offloading to a server, made this a deliberately difficult proof of concept.
Approach
We worked from a standard ESP-CAM dev board and built an object detection pipeline targeting real-time person detection on the embedded vision hardware. The implementation combined embedded C/C++ on the device with Python tooling for the detection workflow, and a companion iOS/Android app to adjust settings and surface detection events. Because the goal was a proof of concept rather than a polished product, effort focused on validating the detection approach and squeezing performance from the camera board.
Outcome
We delivered a working proof of concept against demanding specs; the client's 5-star review highlighted the extra time invested and an out-of-the-box approach to a highly complex problem.

ESP32 Brushless Motor Torque Control over RS485

Challenge
A repeat-engagement client needed firmware to drive a brushless motor through an RS485 controller from an ESP32, with precise torque regulation and operator-facing controls. The system also had to handle real-time feedback and fault conditions safely during operation.
Approach
We wrote an ESP32 code sketch that interfaced with the brushless motor controller over an RS485 serial link, implementing torque-control logic as the core function. The firmware handled bidirectional serial communication with the controller, processed real-time feedback from the motor, and exposed a user interface for operation. Fault detection was built in to flag and respond to abnormal conditions, rounding out a robust motion-control package in C/C++ on the ESP32.
Outcome
The client praised the spectacular results and explicitly looked forward to many future projects, leaving a 5-star review.
